Q. What is a Home Construction Consultant?

A construction consultant is an independent party usually hired by the customer. The role of the construction consultant is to: act as the customer's advocate and representative; to assist the customer in making construction related decisions. A consultant will make periodic inspections of the work, meet with the customer and the contractor the make sure that any issues are dealt with in a timely manner. I often think of my work as translating "construction talk" into a language understood by the customer..

The key part of the consultants job should be to make sure that all of the details are on paper and understood by everyone BEFORE the construction contract is signed and any work has started. Once that is done, the rest of the consultants work is much easier: to monitor/inspect the construction, deal with any issues on a timely basis, facilitate communication between the owner and the contractor

Q. Can I build my own home if I don't have any building experience?

Yes. 95% of our clients have no building experience at all, and they do just fine because a professional New Home Consultant is with them every step of the way.

Q. I'm not handy at all. I can't even pound a nail in straight. Does that matter?

No. With our process, most of our clients do very little physical work. Their main tool is a phone.

Q. Won't it be a full time job running my own project?

Our compensation is based on a fixed fee that takes into account the size and complexity of your project.

Many mortgage lenders look favorably on owner-builders because of homes that are worth more than the original mortgage amount. We will assist you on getting the financing you need to build your dream home.

Q. Who pays the bills?

You do. You control the money and monitor costs as the project progresses.

Q. Do I need to find land or have my building plans before I call a Home Consultants?
A.
No, because getting our professional help before you buy the land or prepare the plans can help you avoid costly mistakes.

A.
